Tell us about your career progression and training
I began in Spring of 2018 as a Customer Service Representative being completely new to the vehicle hire industry. My colleagues at that time supported me by sharing their knowledge as I learnt about the operation of the rental branch. Transitioning to Assistant Branch Manager, I was supported by my Branch Manager, but also supported by the company who put me forward for the Chartered Managers Institution Level 3 in Principles of Management and Leadership, which I passed last year at Distinction level.
Please describe the different roles within your team
I work at the Poole Depot with a small team of us on the Front Desk, as well as a team of Drivers and Valeters who work behind the scenes prepping the vehicles for rentals, delivering and collecting vehicles to and from corporate customers, vehicle appointments and movements between branches. The team are very adaptive and responsive to how the day can change as everyone works towards the same common goal of supplying the vehicle to the end user.
Which part of your role do you enjoy the most?
Each day brings its own challenges and problems to solve, making each day unique. It sounds so cliché - but it's the truth. Part of my role is looking after the fleet in branch and also the Drivers and Valeters. I am constantly managing vehicle availability with new and existing customer bookings amongst other commitments that we have each day serving our retail and corporate customers.
